Approximately three miles upstream from the land is the Iron Gate Reservoir and one of California's State Fish Hatcheries. Further upstream, about 9 miles, is Copco Lake. The area is known for its outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, off roading, water skiing and bird watching. Iron Gate Reservoir, Copco lakes and the Klamath River offer tremendous Trout and Salmon fishing. Wildlife abounds in this area with deer sometimes more common than people. Bobcat, Mountain Lion, Lynx, Coyotes, Wild Turkeys, and Bald Eagles are not uncommon sights.
