Please take the time before you read any further to understand this property is located in a remote portion of rural Alaska: The Last Frontier, The Wild Wild West, Grizzly Bear Country. There will be no 7-11, Gas station, Liquor store, and no beauty salon. There are animals here that can ruin your day quite quickly if you are not prepared with the right equipment and that includes high powered rifles, handguns and knives. You are not going to drive there in a Toyota Prius. You are not going to be able to get all the way to your property with a 4X4 vehicle although you will be able to get part way there with a 4X4 and then finish with an all terrain vehicle, snowmobile or snow cat. You can fly in with an Air Taxi which is the most common way to access this type of land in Alaska. You can also Snow machine to your land in the winter. From Anchorage the property is less than 75 air miles and is only 13 air miles from the airport in Skwentna. Fly in/out using any of the areas private pilots including ski planes on the lake ice in Winter. There are a handful of cabins in the area.
Alaska has a huge trail system for ATVing and then Winter snowmobiling which can be used to get to the lake. You can build a cabin over time with the timber on the land if you wish or bring in building supplies over time as others have done to build. You can take in an all year round tent and store it on the land to use it as you develop.
There are no utilities to the property, as is the case with nearly all Alaska property outside city limits. There are no time limits to build your cabin.
This 3.808 acre property is less than half a mile from Shell Lake and about 3.5 miles from Shell Lake Lodge which can provide some basic amenities when it is open. The property is also located near a trail popular with Fat Tire bikes that starts at the Skewentna Roadhouse and travels to Shell Lake. This area has great fishing, hunting and snow machining. Great lake from property not too far out from Anchorage or the Valley by plane. Popular hunting and wildlife viewing in the area includes Moose, Bear, Caribou, and Grouse and Hare.
Mushers training for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race on a trail that runs through the muskegs near the property and just west of the Shell Lake Lodge. Fat-tire bikers competing in the Iditarod Trail Invitational race to McGrath on a route that runs right past Shell Lake Lodge's front door, near the property. If using an ATV, can make it in a matter of hours. The pictures are general of the area and nearby attractions.
